The Midatlantic Regional Student Veteran Career Conference will be taking place Saturday October 20th from 11 am – 3 pm . This is your chance to connect face-to-face with university recruiters seeking student veterans, military students and ROTC cadets to discuss Summer 2019 internships and early talent roles and leadership development programs.
The event is at the Faculty House at Columbia University, 64 Morningside Dr, New York, NY 10027. There is no garage parking at this facility. Street parking is limited so I recommend you take public transportation, ride share or be prepared to walk a few blocks from nearest surface parking lot.
I have 4 employers with confirmed attendance and will likely add 3-4 more before the event, so check the website frequently for updates (http://studentveterancareerconference.com/employers-attending-new-york-city/)
The 4 confirmed employers have their highest demand for candidates in the following degree programs:
- Amazon – software development, IT, accounting, finance, marketing, economics, engineering, math, machine learning, science, statistics and business
- AQR Capital Management – IT, cyber, business, finance, software engineering, economics, accounting
- TD Bank – IT, cyber, business, finance, software engineering, economics, accounting
- Willis Towers Watson – HR, business, finance, economics, health administration
If you are not in any of those degree programs – fear not! You are still encouraged to stop by and speak with the recruiters about opportunities they have for other degree types. The demand may be smaller, but you have an edge on the competition as you have the military background and leadership skills that set you apart from traditional college students.
Bring at least 8 copies of your resume if you have one (you will leave one at registration). Dress is business casual.
Lastly – please share this info with your fellow student veterans & cadets. Ask them to create a profile at https://studentveterancareerconference.jobboard.io/profiles/sign_up so they can be seen by these employers and the dozens of other participating employers in this program, who are seeking your skills but that may not be attending the New York event.
